This is why one has to take the car ferry from Kure to Hiroshima or Matsuyama, which passes by the shipyard (or the naval base cruise, which gets even closer to the yard, although the ship is much smaller, so the photos are closer to the waterline)... :)

Yes, from the park in front of the restaurant you can only shoot a small part of the shipyard indeed.

It was only during my last visit to Kure that I managed to go on the naval base/harbor cruise; this way I was able to also get closer to the ships being built at JMU...
Othervise, for me Kure was just a walk from the train station to the ferry terminal (OK,also the Yamato museum, also the naval museum with the submarine, also the small restaurants in the mall...) :)

Really cool that JMU is still building big ships in the historic Kure dockyard. Really enjoyed my visit to Kure a few years ago. Even my wife liked it!
