Description:

Del Monte (T-AK 5049) (IMO 6804240)
Built 1968 - Acquired and assigned to the Ready Reserve Fleet in 1984 (Now withdrawn from those lists) - 493.1 Feet Long - 23900 Tons
Previously named DELTA BRAZIL
Former general/mixed cargo ship now used for VBSS (Vessel Board Search and Seizure) Training by various organizations in the Hampton Roads area. (The SEALs involved in the MAERSK ALABAMA incident were from Little Creek VA). Unknown if she is still able to steam under her own power or is now more of a training hulk. I *suspect* the modern cranes and containers are training props. Seen here being pushed west past Fort Monroe Hampton VA by MORAN tugs. Left from Little Creek and went to the Norfolk/Portsmouth area. Her AIS tracker was not on, but the tugs were, so I suspect she was "dead stick".
