El AP. 41 AQUILES es un transporte de carga y pasajeros (tropas) de gran autonomía, diseñado para operar por largos períodos sin apoyo. Fue construído por Asmar, siendo lanzado al agua y bautizado el 04 de diciembre de 1987, y entregado oficialmente a la Armada el 16 de agosto de 1988, convirtiéndose, hasta la fecha, en el mayor buque construído por dichos Astilleros.

The AP. 41 AQUILES is a cargo and passenger transport (troops) of great autonomy, designed to operate for long periods of time without support. She was built by Asmar, being launched and Christianed on December 04 1987, and officially delivered to the Navy on 16 August 1988, becoming, to date, the largest vessel built by the Yard.

Este es un buque de tres cubiertas, con acomodaciones al centro, lo que asegura una buena habitabilidad, tanto en puerto, como en la mar. Posee además, una cubierta de vuelo en popa para operar hasta con helicópteros medianos. Tiene acomodaciones para 15 Oficiales, 90 tripulantes y 250 pasajeros.
