Description:
This photograph of POL DAISY was taken on 5th February 1999 at Eastham as she edged her way towards Manchester Ship Canal's locks with a cargo of steel for discharge at Ellesmere Port.
On the previous night tide, she had grounded on a sand bank in the approach channel, causing distortion to her hull and writing her off.
A Polish "B346" type, built in 1982 at Gdansk as KRITI JADE for Varnima Corporation International (Vardinoyannis) of Piraeus, she became Vroon's INDIAN EXPRESS in 1989 and Pol-Asia Line's POL DAISY in 1998.
After completing discharge on the Tyne, she sailed for Poland where she remained until late in 2002 when she sailed as VEESHAM 24 for breaking up on the beach at Sachana, India, where she arrived on 22nd March 2003.
