Description:

The El Ferrol built Cartago type MANLEY HAVANT, which was launched in April 1978 as ALVARO PEREZ for Naviera Mar de Arosa S.A. and delivered in October 1979 as LAS COLORADAS, is seen passing Portishead, inbound for Portbury dock near Avonmouth on 14th May 2000 with a cargo of forest products from the Far East.

The management of LAS COLORADAS had in 1991 been taken over by Empresa de Nav. Mambisa but she was soon sold to Incom Ltd (normally buyers of ships for scrap) which resold her as SATURN to Cometas Shipping Co of Mariupol (Ukraine).

As MANLEY HAVANT she was managed by Progressive Shipping Co. of Piraeus on behalf of a joint venture between Manley Hopkins and Azov Shipping of Ukraine. In 1996 she was reported to be renamed MARIUPOL SUN but this was cancelled.
