After undertaking berthing trials at the port's of Cherbourg, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Bilbao and Santander the GALICIA is currently in the dry dock at the Astander Shipyard in Santander for finishing touches to be applied and a hull survey for the switch from the British to French register.

Thanks for that correction regarding Cherbourg.

I'm surprised that the GALICIA didn't call into Bilbao and Santander on her delivery voyage whilst on her way to France and the United Kingdom rather than having to back track to Spain.

I have to say that I'm not overly impressed with this class of vessel. I think that they would have looked far better if another deck was added above the bridge with an observation lounge overlooking the bow.

But nonetheless I'm looking forward to travelling on the GALICIA sometime next year.

And now doing Santander. I assume that she is making trial calls at all BF terminal ports?

Perhaps more interesting is that she is UK-registered, with tech management by Stena (Northern Marine Ship Management Ltd, Glasgow). I think that this is a first in the main BF fleet - I wonder whether it because the ship is financed by a Hongkong financial institution, Jialai International Ship Lease Co Ltd.

Just a slight correction: After her call at Plymouth, she sailed for BILBAO (not Cherbourg), where she arrived this morning (15/10). She called at Cherbourg on Monday (12/10), prior to arriving at Portsmouth (13/10).

I'm surprised that the contributor didn't add any additional information other than "maiden call". 🤔

Brittany Ferries newest addition to their fleet, the Chinese built GALICIA made a brief call into Plymouth's Millbay Dock for berthing trials on the 14 October 2020. It was a very brief call that lasted for about 90 minutes after which she sailed to Cherbourg for storing and crew training.

GALICIA will enter service in late December 2020 sailing twice weekly round trips between Portsmouth and Santander and a once weekly round trip between Portsmouth and Cherbourg departing on a Sunday evening and returning the following day to Portsmouth. The Portsmouth to Cherbourg route is also for the crew change.
