I was fourteen when my family emigrated to New Zealand in 1961. I had never been near a ship before and could not grasp the size of the ORIANA. It was a wonderful ship even though we were in tourist class.

I have always liked this ship. I would go to where she docked at least once a month right up until she was towed out of the heads bound for Japan. Sailed on her twice - great experience and memories. Thank you all for the comments.

Breathtaking from every angle and despite having been disposed of when only 25 she was a superior ship to Canberra. Her only problem being that her internal layout was distinctly as a two class ship and was therefore not so easily opened up as a one class cruise ship. For those critics of her appearance, I wonder, did they ever actually see her and sail on her? I only ever saw Orsova once at a great distance, I certainly wish that I'd sailed on her.

I've always been more of a CANBERRA guy, but this is a pretty cool shot. My favourite Orient liner is probably ORSOVA.

She does look better from this angle, but from stern it's an awful looking ship!
