So far as I know this vessel does not have a name. “Water Witch” is the builder’s name for this type of workboat. She is used by the Northern Ireland Rivers Agency for maintenance work on inland waterways. In this photo she is approaching the locks at Portna, Co Londonderry, on the River Bann. 30 July 2006.

There is on of these Water Witch boats working on the River Clyde, it is called St Mungo. I've posted pics on here, look under St Mungo

The Water Witch is built in Liverpool, England and is a unique workboat that is classed as a surface dredger. The multi-purpose loader arm can take up to 11 different attachments (shown in this picture is the work platform) but the main role is normally collecting debris and weed. This boat was fitted with a deep dig system also to allow her to dig silt out up to 3.6m below waterline. This Mark 3 model is a popular design, with some 73 working world-wide. More information on

Nice photo! Aubrey . Waterways Ireland opertate three vessels from the same stable. These(others) are sponson equipped dredgers and are based at Kilalloe,Rooskey(River Shannon) and Enniskillen(just north of Portora lock). I'll post aphoto as soon as I can ,they work all year round.
