Description:

'Evangelistas' ex 'Magallanes' is due to arrive at Alang in about 12 hours time at the end of her delivery voyage from Puerto Natales.
She had served Chilean Patagonia for just a few months short of 20 years on the route from Puerto Montt to Chacabuco and - more commonly - Puerto Montt to Puerto Eden and Puerto Natales.
This photo shows her at anchor at Puerto Eden on a south bound voyage. Local small craft can be seen alongside her stern ramp collecting small consignments of this and that. I was aboard her taking delivery of an engine start battery when this photo was taken by my 1st Mate, Jo Mahoney.
She would sail in a few hours for Natales having embarked a few local passengers... some travelling for medical reasons ... others just going for a few days shopping or heading on vacation.
Puerto Eden, population about 200 , is the most remote settlement in all of South America and the only link with the outside world is by sea.
