Description:
On October 14, 1966 the Str. Stonefax was struck and sunk in the Welland Canal between Allanburg and Port Robinson by the saltie M. V. Arthur Stove. The Stonefax was downbound with a load of potash and the accident halted all shipping in the Welland canal for 10 hours. The ship was declared a total loss but was refloated, repaired at Port Weller and then resold back to Hall Corporation of Canada to sail on till 1971.
