Description:

SUTJESKA
Courtesy of Vedran Mladic (I think but can't remember).
No other details except that in her latter years she sailed for the Jugoslavenska Linijska Plovidba, Rijeka. Also, this is the ship on which my dad began his merchant navy career.

Jaksa, nice to see your maritime roots here!

In addition to the particulars which Jaap provided: This steamer was the last of a series of eight ships which the yard built 'on spec' between 1917 and 1920 in view of the huge loss of tonnage caused by World War I. Owners of the TIMOK were Brodarsko Akcionarsko Društvo "Oceania", Sušak. The former EIGEN HULP II (1917) was bought by "Oceania" in 1936 and renamed DINARA. 1946 renamed SPLIT (Jugolinija). 1961 scrapped.

Pozdrav - Milko

The SUTJESKA was build in 1920 at the yard Wilton’s Machinefabriek & Scheepswerf in Rotterdam (yard number 290) for their own account as EIGEN HULP VIII. The ship was laid up after completion. Sold in 1924 to the Stoomvaart Maatschappij Wijklijn as OISTERWIJK, this is also the year that she was registered in the Lloyds Registers. After one roundtrip that same year she was sold to France as EMMY L.D. In 1933 sold to Yugoslavia as TIMOK. In 1946 renamed SUTJESKA. In 1961 broken up in Split.
