Denis, I opted for a result that did not require that, kept all the parts of the ship in the frame, and produced an acceptable aspect ratio.

When I feel like ship is too close to photo frame, I select background parts as long stripes of 10-30 pixels wide & make them wider.

Windturbines are always edited out. Problem was my own doing here, the ship ended up too high in the frame. I was too much concentrating on covering the Ultramar funnel and then I lost eye on the fore mast.
