Description:

Unknown date; location is probably the Panama Canal, circa 1966.

Taken from the aft end of the navigation bridge deck.
The compass repeater can be seen on the bridge wing.
The ship's bulwarks are riveted.
The teak taffrail (hand rail) can be seen.
A MOB (Man overboard) lifebuoy can just be seen with the ships name thereon.
The steel and wood framework for awnings can be seen in white. Awnings were installed when in particularly hot areas of the world.
Two gooseneck ventilation pipes can be seen.
The deck is covered with latticed teak 'mats'.

Launched on 11/09/1963 and completed during January 1964 by Nakskov Skibsværft, Nakskov, Denmark (171)
6,457 g.t. and 8,950 dwt (as built), as:
'Kirsten Skou' to 1978,
'Lydia' to 1986 and
'Aranco 1' until sold to Bangladesh for demolition.
Arrived Chittagong on 13/07/1987.

At the crossing of the Panama Canal, there have always been (and probably still are) tarpaulin covers on both wings of the bridge. I do not see them on the photo, so I rather doubt if the ship is in the process of crossing the Panama Canal. Well, but of course I can be wrong.
Thanks for sharing this photo. My last ascent of the Panama Canal was 2002. Now retirement. I miss the sea. Best regards.
