If my memory serves..... which it sometimes does.... the 'stove pipe' was added shortly after they went into service as they had major 'smuts on deck ' issues.

No Denis, this ship was scrapped in 99 !! What you see is the typical funnel configeration of OCL Container ships. I can remember them very well in my beginning years of sailing 75 and later on. One saw them also in the channel and Southhampton very often.
