Description:
Historic tug Luna, its fate unknown, sits on the East Side of Commonwealth Pier. I wish I knew who to get in touch with regarding this boat, I'd love to help restore her further.

Machinery: 1 4-bl. scr, d-e, General Electric motor, 2x Diesel 2tew 6cyl Winton type 130, 325bhp-300rpm (650bhp total)
Speed: 11kn

1930 -29/07: Launched by "M.M. Davis Shipbuilding Co" at Solomons, Maryland (designed by John G. Alden)towed to East Boston for outfitting by "Bethlehem Steel Shipyard"
1930 -17/10: Delivered to "Mystic Steamship Co", commercially known as "Boston Towboat Company" at Boston, Ma.(served the US Navy and US Army at "Boston Naval Shipyard" in Charlestown)
1940-45: Requisitioned for war duties by the "War Shipping Administration"
1971: Laid up, plans were made to sink her in Massachusetts Bay, but sold as office and floating home
1979: To a non-profit research institution
1988: Declared a "National Historic Landmark"
1995 -xx/03: for preservation to the "LPS - Luna Preservation Society" at Boston, Ma. (Charlestown Navy Yard)
1999: Restored at "Frank L. Sample Shipyard" in Boothbay, Boston
2001 -23/07: Re-launched
