|SeaRoad Shipping’s charter vessel, Liekut along side on maiden visit into Devonport. The company has chartered the vessel as an interim replacement of the 30-year-old Searoad Tamar for three years. Once Liekut’s charter period is complete, SeaRoad’s new permanent vessel is scheduled to come online in the second half of 2023.
Liekut’s owners, Siem Europe, completed modifications in Poland prior to her delivery, including strengthening decks, installing barriers and drainage, and modifying the stern ramp to suit her new home port of Devonport.
The inherited name comes from the local dialect of Lower German, meaning "straight ahead". The Searoad Tamar will be retired.
To date, this will be the largest vessel to be operating out of Devonport.
