Jim, I was thinking of the way the torpedoes are expelled from the tubes, after the tubes are turned to the sides, in their firing positions. The Soviet 533 mm tubes we had used small explosive charges; here I see there are large cylinders above the torpedo tubes - looks like a compressed air system to me...

Jim, there are no launch rails for the anti-ship missiles on this photo, only torpedo tubes. I just wwnder what they used for launching of the torpedoes, compressed air or explosive charges?
