Description:

Launched 27 November 1958 at Sunderland by Austin & Pickersgill Ltd. as hull no. 435 for Manchester Liners Ltd., Manchester. 378’2” x 50’3” x 24’6;” 4459 gt, 2456 nt; twin 5-cylinder Sulzer Diesels, 480mm x 700, geared to a single screw, 3750-bhp, by G. Clark and N. E. Mar. Eng. Ltd.

L:ater *Cairnesk* (1965), *Manchester Faith* (1966), *Ilkon Tak* (1970) and *Chryseis* (1979). Broken up at Karachi, 1982-83.

Shown on a dismal day in August 1960 at Lake Calumet Harbor, Chicago, Illinois, USA. She and her sister, *Manchester Fame,* were built exclusively for Manchester Liners’ UK-Great Lakes service.

Useless piece of trivia, but as the "Ilkon Tak" this ship featured prominently in a 1978 episode of Columbo entitled "The Conspirators"
