Bjørn, thanks for the link. Of course the anchors can be reused, it was my focus on the new ships only that made me wrong. :) I know there are standard provisions in new building contracts that prohibit the use of second hand equipment, but existing ships lose their anchors rather frequently, which are then routinely replaced with second hand ones (provided they are in good shape).

Old anchors make decent monuments, so there is a market for them, I guess. I don't think, however, that they re-use old anchors on ships, but I may be wrong...
