Description:

Canadian-flag tanker COASTAL CANADA as shown while downbound on the St.Lawrence River off Varennes on August 3, 1986.
She was built in 1952 as B.A. PEERLESS for British American Oil Co. to carry oil from the Lake Head to Sarnia and was shortened in 1959 for saltwater trading. In 1969, she was bought by Gulf Oil and renamed GULF CANADA. In 1984, Coastal Canada Marine Inc. acquired and renamed her COASTAL CANADA as depicted on the present image. She lasted until 1989 when she was sold for scrap being towed to Alang from Halifax as COASTAL 1.
