Description:
Wilson Muuga ran aground on the SW coast of Iceland on 19th of December 2006. The Danish Navy inspection vessel TRITON was first ship on scene and sent a dinghy with 8 POB to assist WM. The dinghy capsized in the heavy sea and one Danish sailor drowned. Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter rescued 7 sailors from the water.
About nine hrs after WM stranded the crew of 12 was evacuated by ICG helicopter.
When this picure was taken (5th of January) all the oil onboard have been pumped from the vessel to avoid pollusion.
