Description:

The ship is just a vehicle for posting this picture, because the important things are happening to the left of the shot. What was once the largest continuous coal un-loader of the world is now being dismantled, a further sign of the change in energy use that will be necessary to keep our planet habitable. The EECV terminal will no longer be involved in handling coal.

Peeneore, after I posted the shot I realised that the end of crane does not mean the end of the coal handling. But I just waited to see whether somebody would take notice. Thanks you did. Apparently the share of coal import has declined to such an extent, that keeping a dedicated coal crane operational, is no longer viable. The other four cranes are indeed capable of dealing what still comes in.

Hi Pieter, Thanks for the photo. But I don´t think EECV will stop handling coal. Today coal carrier Basic Glory arrived from Hay Point at EECV. In last years most coal at EECV was not unloaded by this continuous coal un-loader, but by the big Demag cranes. Cheers Peter
