Ex buoy tender Vigilant, built in Holland ship’s yard and owned by England.

Her name is a tribute to the Scottish engineer, hired by Admiral Jorge Montt Álvarez, who built more than 70 lighthouses in the Chilean coast.

It stands out as a work of engineering to the headlight¬ 'Evangelistas' on the islet of the same name, in whose construction revealed the ingeneous and technical capacity of its constructor, especially because of the roughness of the chosen place.

Commissioned on February 5, 1997, according to resolution C.J.A. N 4520/5 of the 17th of January of 1997.
