4,734 gt; 1,497 dwt; 600 passengers; 280 lane-metres ro-ro. Operator: PT Dharma Lautan Utama, Surabaya, Indonesia. Built 1988 by Hyashikane Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd, Nagasaki, Japan. Yard no. 962. Propulsion: twin screws with 2 x six-cylinder, four-stroke Daihatsu 6DLM-40L of 9,000 bhp (total) at 515 rpm. Speed: 20 knots. Built as BEPPU 2; 2002-CAR FERRY RAINBOW; 2012- DHARMA KENCANA VIII (as photo). 2016- foundered and capsized in the Flores Sea off East Nusa Tenngara Island, Indonesia. All 121 passengers rescued.
