I totally agree with you regarding the possible ports but the exact location is Auckland. The ORSOVA is seen alongside Princess Wharf, Auckland Harbour, New Zealand.

Most likely Auckland and hydrofoil could be Manu Wai. Does not look like Pyrmont where she berthed in Sydney. I think Sydney and Auckland were the only two down under ports that had hydrofoils at that time.

Excellent photo of one of my favourite P&O liners the ORSOVA but this is not Southampton I can assure you.

Although the scene looks as if it was taken at the Ocean Terminal at berths 43/44 in the Ocean Dock at the Port of Southampton but the building is not the Ocean Terminal it's totally different plus there are no quayside cranes along the berth where the ORSOVA is berthed whereas berths 43/44 in the Ocean Dock at Southampton had several.

There is a hydrofoil to the right of the photo, it's taken downunder somewhere, Sydney Pyamont or Melbourne?
