Very interesting shot Barry. Wonder what the lock gates are used for to the left of the Mersey lock? Might be that the right hand dock acts as a basin for bigger ships.

I don't know why there are lock gates between Stalbridge Dock (on the right) and the Old Dock. Historically, Stalbridge used to cater for larger vessels, which may mean that it's deeper, if that is relevant.
