I did a relief trip on Acadia Forrest as 2/E Joined at Rosenberg left at Rosenberg Great ship and a good crowd. I was offered a C/E position, but due other commitments had to decline. The sister ship the Munchen sank in the Bay of Biscay. They had a side door to allow pilot access which needed constant re dogging due the dogs slackened off due vibration. Nice simple Engine room Sulzer Main Engine and 3 Daihatsu D/G. The Barge Crane needed a lot of maintenance and loading Barges over the stern and transferring them forward needed constant ballasting to minimise stress

David,
Lovely to hear from somebody with first hand experience of such a ship. I've only ever seen them from a landlubber's point of view. Glad you enjoyed it.
Best Regards

David Jackson on 27/04/2011 - I sailed on both Acadia and Atlantic Forest for few years. Mosvold Shipping were the operators and I was the R/O on both, way back soon after they were new builds. Noth were built in New Orleans and we sailed between there and Europe. Great ships and a pity they didn't catch on. - Rgds - DJ

Thanks Derek,
they certainly must have seemed extremely radical when built. And I believe she kept the same name all her life.
