Description:

SALMONPOOL was completed in Spain in 1982 for Ropner's of West Hartlepool. When still a fairly new ship she came to Glasgow to lay up as many ships were sadly doing in those days.

I joined The MV Salmonpool in 1982, in Pireaus, Greece. This picture shows her unladen after unloading cement in Tarragona Spain, which unfortunately was her only cargo before we took her to Glasgow to lay up. Good to see her back at work, even though under a foriegn flag.....

Paul - Are you sure she was Spanish built [?] From memory something tells me she was built at Eleusis, Greece at the Hellenic Shipyard and lay there, unsold , before Ropner's interceded and bought her. Think they got her on the cheap (typical ropners :-D )

Yes indeed she was, Yard No.1011. Apologies to Spain!! Didn't realise she was unsold previously though: :lol:
