A very nostalgic picture for me. Many times I was like these kids pictured on the quayside, watching the unloading of a Clyde "Puffer" at remote ports on the West Coast of Scotland. This is a real steam "Puffer" as witnessed by the exhaust steam from the forecastle winch coming out of the fore-end of the vessel.
This and all these excellent and very high quality pictures from Ronnie Mac were certainly NOT taken with a Kodak Box Brownie.
As far as I can see, all the photos were taken in the 1950s. The proof that this one was is from the truck into which the ship is discharging. I think it is a Ford Thames but, whatever, it is definitely of a 1950s vintage.
