Transferred from P&O Oriana and joined her for Voyage 2 as Deckhand (also had to work in Engine Room). Horrendous vibration at speed. Went to Australia around South Africa, long boring passages at sea and little time in port. These ships killed the Merchant Navy for me.

Pleasing to the eye but a nightmare to sail on due to the vibration once at speed.

Nice picture of a good looking ship. IMO 6818461

Great shot - they were a Blue Funnel design, as were the subsequent Far East Bays of the Liverpool Bay class.

Note this shot was taken before the bulwarks in the form of a strength girder was added along each side. This was after full scale tests were carried out on the Flinders Bay showed that the stress at the hatch corners was excessive under full load and in a rough sea.

Bunts - For container ships this class of OCL were quite pleasing to the eye. From memory they were designed by the Blue Funnel Naval Architect Marshall Meeke (sic) and you can definitely see the "Blue Flu" influence around the flared f'c'sle and bulwarks. Believed they were re-engined in the 80's when changed from Turbine to Motor.
