STAVROS S NIARCHOS and PRINCE WILLIAM were rebuilt by the Appledore Shipyard. Their hulls were built 1995 to 1996 by Abeking & Rasmussen at Bremen as passenger sailing vessels, proposed names NEPTUNE BARONESS and NEPTUNE PRINCESS.

The shipyard went bankrupt before the ships were completed. Both were laid up, hulls and superstructures almost finished at Rostock for some years until the STA stepped in. I don't know which one of the two became the "STAVROS", at Rostock only the building numbers were visible.

Once the vessels emerged fom the Appledore Shipyard they looked a lot better than one could expect from watching their hulls at Rostock.

Regards,
Werner
