Description:

One of at least a pair of SD14s, the other being WELSH TROUBADOR built at Sunderland by Austin and Pickersgill for Welsh Ore Carriers which I photographed in Sunderland after returning from trials in May 1973.
She did not stay with them long, becoming AGATE in 1978. I don't have any other details after that.
UPDATED: I see there is a great shot of her elsewhere on the site as SAIGON 2

Renamed Agate I in 1991, Saigon 2 in 1992, vessel is scrapped, I must look for her final details.

Paul - You do come up with some interesting ships. did you know that Welsh Ore Carriers were actually a part of London and Overseas Freighters but run as a separate entity ? I think there was a third one but can't be sure . Keep 'em coming .

Yes, as the old WELSH HERALD was a regular in Glasgow with iron ore. Glad you like the pic. :lol:
