Description:
May 29, 2007 downbound in the Welland Canal near the Homer Bridge. This is a good example of how loaded Great Lakes bulk carriers cool their decks during hot weather. This is done to allow them to clear the sill at either end of the lock. Hot weather warms the steel deck but not the hull so the ships tend to hog which makes them deeper forward and aft - and too deep for the sills.
Former name(s):
- Algowest (Until 2001 Oct)
