MARVITA is part of the “Repola series”, built by Rauma-Repola in Uusikaupunki, Finland for Saimaa Lines Ltd in the 80's for use in traffic between Saimaa Channel and North Sea area. Four vessels of this series remained in Saimaa Lines traffic, the others were delivered to Soviet Union. The Finnish ones were named LAVOLA (IMO 7902611, now LEMO), REPOLA (IMO 7904516, now BALTIC SKY), POHJOLA (IMO 7904528, now POLINE) and MUSTOLA (IMO 7902623, now MARVITA).
