Another good shot Robert - Whilst no lover of P&O., one had to admire classic lines of their ships and the smartness - Think the "BENDIGO" was sold to Wm. Thomson and ended up as thge "BENATTOW".

No, she stayed with P&O to the end receiving the glorious PANDO SOUND for her trouble! She was broken up I think at Newport in 1972.
BENATTOW surprisingly enough was the former PSNC CUZCO.
Ben took BALLARAT and renamed her BENLEDI replacing a ship 11 years her junior!! They also took some ex- Ellerman ships and gained the title of the Leith Greeks! I never did find out why they disposed of their modern ships and bought up older vessels. :-?

Thanks for that Fairfield - All coming back now and think they sold the "BENLEDI" to Italkians , Costa Line comes to mind - They were a weird lot Ben and I've never worked out why they sold and bought "back to front" :-D
