| As a child I could call her arrival in Wellington by the sound of her engines. I would run up the hill behind my parents home in Seatoun to watch her come up the harbour. Thanks for the memories. |

Yes, this ship dates from 1932. Built at Harland & Wolff, Belfast, she was originally laid down as Elder Dempster's ACHIMOTA. Prior to completion she was sold to Huddart Parker,Ltd. for their Australian/New Zealand services and entered service as WANGANELLA. She operated until 1963, when she was laid-up at Doubtful Sound, NZ as an accommodation ship for workers. In 1970 she was towed to Kaohsiung and scrapped.
