Description:

SMS TRUEMAN and HT SABRE at work on the River Humber, July 2007

Taken with a Samsung GX-1L and Sigma 50-500 f/4.0~6.7lens. I exposed for the cloud highlights and then in post-processing adjusted levels in Adobe Photoshop Elements v4.0

This image was shot in Pentax Raw (.PEF), converted to Adobe Digital Negative (.DNG) for archival and processed in Adobe Photoshop Elements v4.0 as 16-bit / Channel Depth

...... White Balance left as shot
...... Exposure, Shadows, Brightness & Contrast adjusted for best possible settings
...... Spotted for sensor dust using Spot Healing Brush.
...... Horizon levelled out using grid and image cropped accordingly.

As the background of Immingham and North Killingholme, was so distant the colours were a little muted so I stripped them of colour altogether and left the colour of the tugs in to give them dynamism and an eye catching look.

Copy later created from main image. I turned it into to monochrome and then the eraser tool was used to peel away the top layer allowing to colour from the bottom layer to show through. The Layers were then flattened.

Not the sort of comments I'd expect here, but interesting. I think I'll see what's possible on my basic version of Adobe photoshop - I hadn't grasped you could manipulate layers like that. Thanks widening the old horizons.
