Hello everyone,
This ship was built originaly to serve as a ferry boat between Matane, Baie Comeau and Godbout in the province of Québec Canada. She was built in 1966 at A.C. DAVIE shipyard in Lauzon, Québec and her first name was SIEUR D'AMOURS honoring the memory of MATHIEU DAMOURS first settler of Matane , Québec. Her original owner was a private company named "Traverse Matane Godbout Ltée" aka TMGL. In 1974, that company was bought by Québec's provincial governement who was creating "La société des traversiers du Québec" aka STQ. SIEUR D'AMOURS became then an STQ unit still serving the same run operating with M/V CAMILLE MARCOUX still in service ont that same run. SIEUR D'AMOURS was sold by STQ in 1981 and became shortly after NORTHERN PRINCESS running between Ste Barbe (Newfoundland) and Blanc Sablon (Québec). She was (to my opinion) one fo the cutest ferry on the st lawrence river in her own time and I had the opportunity to cross the St lawrence a few times aboard her since I was living in Matane in my youth.
I wish her well.....Bon vent
