Description:

AMERICAN REPUBLIC is shown while loading taconite pellets at Cleveland Bulk Terminal for the trip upriver to the Mittal Steel mill in Cleveland, Ohio, 1438 hours 22 July 2007.

Note the 360-degree pilothouse windows for navigating the tight turns of the Cuyahoga River. And as magogman writes, the Cleveland Browns football (American football) stadium is visibile in the background. He's right, they aren't worth watching though! :-D

I remember seeing the REPUBLIC at the CBT in 2003

You also might point out that the "new" stadium for the National Football League Cleveland Browns is visible just beyond the vessel. Not that they are worth watching in their current reincarnation!

Excellent series of photos you are posting today -- not near enough Great Lakes shots on this site.

You might point out to the great masses of unwashed that this vessel and her sisters have a "rear-facing bridge" for use in navigating the tight turns of the Cuyahoga River. It was designed just for this purpose and is clearly visible in this nice photo.
But, don't post a closeup of it or the photo police will get you!!!!!!!!!!!!1
