Built 1953 at Vickers-Armstrongs, Newcastle, England (122) as a cargo ship with 107 pass. berths. 164.90 x 21.70 x 8.68 m. 13.345 grt. Rebuilt 1972 in Greece to a ro-ro pass. ferry (946 pass., 470 cars). 14.941 grt. 1953 CITY OF YORK (Ellerman Lines, London, England). 1972 MEDITERRANEAN SKY (Karageorgis Lines, Piraeus, Greece), route Patras (Greece) - Ancona (Italy). 1994 Karageorgis ceased operations. Ship has since been chartered out. 1999 laid-up in Eleusis Bay. 2002 capsized and sank. Sister ship: MEDITERRANEAN SEA, ex-CITY OF EXETER.
