Bermeo Port 2007/08/22 Boat destined to the taking apart, the “Beti Aita Guria” of Orio, the greater wood boat of the Cantabrian.Using flat of century XVII an retort of a whaling boat from the waterline has been constructed.This conversion is being undertaken as a basic feature of training at the school of marine-carpentry. It consists in the conversion of a fishing-boat into a period Basque whaler (17th century) of 38 metres in length and 7 metres in beam. This vessel recovers the typical characteristics of a Basque whaler of the era as well as the tackle and gear used at the time in whale fishing and its transformation into fish oil.http://www.astillerosbermeo.com/
