According to http://www.humber.com/Estuary_Information/Navigating_the_Estuary/Estuary_History/The_Past/ this was built as a ferry called SPIRIT OF FIFE, and was renamed HUMBER surveyor in 1996 after being converted to a survey ship.

A press release from Small & Co in Lowestoft this year, shows her under her new name, EMS SURVEYOR ( http://www.drydocksmallandco.co.uk/humber-surveyor-renamed-and-repaired-at-small-co/ )

Hi Howard

Whilst she would be liable for inclusion in the Law Enforcement Category as a Harbour Masters Vessel, her primary function is that of a Survey Vessel:

This from the ABP web site @ http://www.humber.com/commercial/survey-craft.asp

Humber Surveyor (1984)
Builders General and Marine (Guernsey)
Reconstructed Mobile Marine (Hull) Ltd.
L.O.A 21.25 m
Beam 9.25 m
Draught (max) 1.57 m
Speed 12 kts
Engines (twin) Iveco AIFO

Sounder Knudsen 320M
Side Scan E.G.& G Neptune Sonar
Position Fixing Equipment Sercel NR 106B Differential GPS Receiver

I have therefore moved the photograph into the Work Boats Category.
