Many thanks for your info. I'll mark her as VULCANIA.
I can post the others if you wish. They are a mish-mash of naval pix, all 3" x 2" in size, so the quality is not excellent.

Old black and white photos are always of interest, not only for me - take a look at the number of views, generally they reach a top ranking!

The nationality flags painted on the hulls are unusual for hospital ships, but they show the picture was taken while the two ships are on one of their voyages to carry home settlers and their families from Italian Somalia and Abessinia to Italia. They had to travel around the Cape of Good Hope to make sure the ships weren't used for an attempt to block the Suez channel.
If I see correctly, the ship in the background has a slightly slanted funnel cap. If so, the ship in the foreground is "Vulcania" and "Saturnia" in the background.
But I confess, I have no idea at what place the picture was taken, may well be outside the Mediterranean.
Rik, do you like to post the other pictures, too, at least if they are shipping related??

Hello from lisbon yes the ship is italian from the company italia line s.s. vulcania or s.s. saturnia. the place is the mediterraneo sea. 8-) 8-)
