Description:

MARYTONIA is seen at West Wharf, Avonmouth, between 20th-30th May 1974 discharging a cargo of animal feeding stuffs ("AFS"). I recall that there were so many ships discharging AFS at that time that she had a long wait for a berth and the agent, in desperation, even looked into the possibility of her entering the small port of Sharpness, which was impossible.

Built in 1961 at Sunderland by Bartram & Sons as LANDWADE for Tatem, she had been sold to Nicosia based owners in 1972 and renamed MARYTONIA.

In 1976 she was sold on to Union Commercial S.S. Co of Piraeus, which she survived as SWEDE TONIA until 1981 when she was resold to Uninav Shipping, again of Piraeus, and renamed UNILUCK.

By 1984 she was under detention at Bedi, India, due to deficiencies, and was broken up at nearby Jamnagar during April 1984.
