Description:

Apart from having the most powerful marine engine when built, she was also fitted with a waste heat recovery system designed and built by Peter Brotherhood (British built at Peterborough ) -a combined gas/steam turbine generator of 8,500 kW, part driven by the main engine exhaust.

Quote from Peter Brothehood :-

" The turbo-compound system consists of a 5.25 MW Peter Brotherhood steam turbine, a 2.25 MW Mitsubishi power turbine, two gearboxes and a 6 MW Siemens generator - all on a combined baseframe. An electronic governor and PLC based control system has also been supplied to regulate the start up, shut down and running modes over the full range of the main engine duties"

Sorry the photo is not too sharp , lighting conditions were not too good.
regards,
Rick

I've seen that somewhere before. :-D Cracking photo - have you any more?

Power Turbine is out of shot, but on the Emma series it should be an ABB Turbine, whereas Mitsubishi were supplied on Gudrun and company.

8.5MWe it should be - 6MWe was Gudrun and Co. :)
