Description:

STOLT PETREL 3,206/1992
The tanker was inbound when she suddenly lost all power and steering and started to drift towards the river bank, she dropped two anchors and called for tug assistance, two tugs came racing down from the container terminal but by the time they arrived power had been restored so what could have been a nasty incident was averted.

Lucky there was nothing else about Ken, that could have been a very nasty incident... so close to the Tilbury-Gravesend passenger ferry too.

John J.

Very true John, I held my breath for a while and she did get quite close to the south bank, she did, after getting power back, have to wait a while due to busy traffic before she could swing to proceed back in.

Ken

Thanks Gerda & Frederik, it was surprising how quickly it all happened and she did get very close to the bank due to her anchors not holding, there are extremely strong currents on the river but all was well in the end.

Regards
Ken
