# in 1977 the "Pride of Baltimore" was launched, the ship was lost in a storm at the coast of Puerto Rico
# "Pride of Baltimore II" was commisioned in 1988, she is a Goodwill Ambassador of the State of Maryland and the Port of Baltimore
# replica of an 1812-era topsail schooner, sometimes called Baltimore Clipper, well-designed hull together with a high sail area made these ships very fast
# differencies between the "Pride of Baltimore II" andthe original ship include a larger hull, watertight bulkheads, more ballast, more engine power and modern electronic navigation systems
# completely dismasted in the Bay of Biscay between France and Spain in September 2005, on her way to the Tall Ships' Festival in Santander,
cause by a squall she first lost her bowsprit following both masts, none of the 18 crew member were hurt, she was brought to Saint-Nazaire,
France.

The Ship has a web site @ http://www.intandem.com/NewPrideSite/PrideHome.html

Shame that having identified the vessel (great stuff Steve T) the original poster (Nik) didn't update the record!

I have renamed the photograph today - 11/11/07.

I believe this is actually the Pride of Baltimore II. Sultana would be square rigged on both masts. See her web site at:
