Why would the navy need a floating crane?

Hello NLHOBDAY,

I've just one example.
when I was on the frigate Hessen during sea-trials
we did tests with a howitzer of the german army on the flight deck. The howitzer had a special fundament and was fastened with chain blocks.
We did the tests to verify if the loading mechanism works at high sea state. The german navy had plant to use the 125mm gun on the new F125 frigates.
Now the answer, the floating crane lifted the howitzer on the flight deck.
It is just one example.
We also used a floating crane for pulling-tests of the RAS-equipment.
