Description:
-IMO#8101915- seen being discharging road salt in Chelsea,MA,12-18-07. Here it is, the proof, she is NOT purely a cement carrier, but and open hatched bulker with cement equipment, I would tend to think that KCL Bardu is much the same.

About KCL Bardu: I know for sure she was launched as a straight bulker (with cranes) and is now probably a bulker equipped for carrying cement as well as other bulk cargoes. Historically, the Klaveness company has been deeply involved in cement trade and the Bardu may be in a long time charter trading cement. But that was not the fact in her earlier days. This I know since I was on a guided tour onboard i ´81!
The Jebsen company of Bergen/ Norway, managing Cozumel cement, is also known as a major owner of cement carriers as well as their Gearbulkers, Obo´s and a few other types. Some/ many of their smaller vessels a pure cement carriers trading mainly in coastal/ regional- not longer overseas, traffic. It would probably be a costs problem building large vessels as pure cement carriers because of return cargo problems.
Happy new year, by the way.
