Description:

-IMO#7701770- a rare site seen loading used cars for West Africa in Providence,RI,12-21-07. I am vey used to seeing car ships at Davisville's carport but from what I have heard it has been well over a decade since a car ship has been in Providence. She is loading a bunch of 'junk cars' for Cotonou, Benin.

That ship has got an interesting shape, I am also not so much used to see car-carriers, they don't come too often into Hamburg (the place where I take most of my photos, despite it's far away) :-D

I remember being in Nassau harbour in the Bahamas and a car carier came in to offload cars. Every last one of the several hundred cars were used cars. Seems to be the cheaper way to get cars in the Bahamas... I will post the carier the next chance I get.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. We are the consumptive throw away society and much of the stuff we throw away, both good and bad, goes overseas.

Thanks for documenting this unusual move.

Cool photo, wondered what she looked like lit up.
Probably about 2 decades. All the vacant land just ahead of Johnson Whales was the parking lots for the cars.
